Carrots and Veganosaurus Culinary Academy

For many years, vegan culinary education has been an important part of our many endeavours. We believe that empowering people and organisations to make their own plant based foods is the best way to create a better world for all. Vegan food is the future and we’re doing our part to bring about this future sooner.

Chef Ram and Susmitha have hosted cooking and baking workshops at Carrots since our inception in 2013 and have also collaborated with chefs from various F&B institutions to introduce vegan food into their menus. Susmitha Veganosaurus has been passionately teaching people (professional chefs and cooking enthusiast alike) to prepare vegan food since way back in 2003.

Based on our experience with all these classes and consultation projects, and to meet the rising demand for vegan education, Chef Ram Khatiwada and Susmitha Veganosaurus have now created a series of short term Vegan Culinary Certification* Courses.

All courses will be limited to very small groups and personal attention will be given to each participant. The food will be prepared hands-on by the students as a team, under the guidance of our chefs.

Basic Vegan Certification Course

What it is

  • 3 day immersive course into basic vegan cooking and baking

This is for you if you’d like to

  • Learn the foundations of vegan food as a first step to starting your own small scale vegan food business.
  • Take an introductory course to vegan cooking before venturing into the advanced level.
  • Introduce vegan food into your day to day life and also prepare the same for your loved ones.
Prerequisites
  • Suitable for complete beginners (no prior experience of cooking or baking required).

Charges

  • 40,000 (per person)

 

Intermediate Vegan Certificate Course

What it is

  • 5 day immersive course covering intermediate level vegan cooking and baking.

This is for you if you’d like to

  • Expand your existing passion for cooking and baking into vegan culinary adventures.
  • Open a small scale vegan food business.

Prerequisites

  • Some prior experience of cooking and baking required.
  • No knowledge of vegan food preparation is necessary.

Charges

  • 60,000 (per person)

 

Advanced Vegan Certification Course

What it is

  • 7 day immersive course covering advanced vegan cooking and baking.

This is for you if you’d like to

  • Start a plant based cafe, restaurant or commercial kitchen.
  • Include an extensive vegan menu in your existing food business.
  • In case you have no knowledge of vegan cooking at all but would like to start a vegan food business, we recommend our Basic Vegan Certification Course, followed by this Advanced Vegan Certification Course.

Prerequisites

  • Basic vegan cooking and baking experience is required.

Charges

  • 90,000 (per person)

 

Healthy Whole Foods Plant Based Certification Course 

What it is

  • 7 day immersive course into healthy whole foods, plant based cooking and baking.
  • All recipes are free of oil, sugar, jaggery and processed foods.

This is for you if you’d like to

  • Start a whole foods plant based cafe, restaurant or commercial kitchen.
  • Include an extensive healthy, vegan menu in your existing food business.
  • Introduce healthy vegan food into your day to day life and also prepare the same for your loved ones.

Prerequisites

  • Some prior experience of cooking and baking required.
  • No knowledge of vegan cooking or healthy food preparation is necessary.

Charges

  • 90,000 (per person)

*Though one of our dreams is to open a full fledged vegan cooking school someday, we’re currently not affiliated with any official educational authority or university. The certificates we give to our students are on the merit of our own experience and goodwill. Veganism is trending widely in India as well as globally. A lot of people are opting to go vegan and many others often choose to eat plant based foods.

At Carrots we’ve seen an upward trend of non-vegans (vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike) choosing to dine with us in the past few years. Susmitha Subbaraju of Veganosaurus has been an ethical vegan, creating plant based dishes since 2003 and Chef Ram Khatiwada has been a vegan chef and baker since 2013.

Between the two of them, they have already completed vegan consultation projects at various places in Bangalore and other Indian cities. They’ve also curated customised menus and trained chefs from global vegan businesses.

They, and our other talented chefs, regularly conduct recipe demonstrations and workshops at Carrots and elsewhere.
